INNISFREE Vitamin C Green Tea Enzyme Brightening Serum Review

Using a vitamin C serum and exfoliant together? Generally this is NOT a good idea, yet maybe there is a way to do this.
Vitamin C is an acid and it does promote skin cell turnover so layering with chemical exfoliants such as AHAs & BHAs which are both acidic can increase skin sensitivity, however exfoliating skin before using a vitamin C serum can boost skin brightening effect so if you know how to use properly and what type of exfoliant use together with vitamin C can be beneficial.

Innisfree has taken care of this subject and brought out a simple solution – there is no concern for skin irritation and minimal approach – sounds like selling a magic product?🤣 LOL well.. this is my choice for brightening my dull skin this month so hope you like it too. 😉

💫INNISFREE Vitamin C Green Tea Enzyme Brightening Serum

A daily brightening serum that formulated with Vitamin C and Enzyme from Jeju Green Tea to help improve dark spots and dullness for even, smooth skin. This product is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin, also can be used in the morning unlike other vitamin C serums.

💫Active Ingredients

  • 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (20,000 ppm), Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Glutathione: whitening benefits
  • Green Tea Enzyme (protease) : exfoliating effect, helps to release dead skin cells and promote cell renewal
  • Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Allantoin, Madecassoside: soothing and moisturizing
  • Hyaluronic acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid: hydrating benefit

👉 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid: a stable, water- soluble derivative of pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid) that provides whitening effects and helps boost collagen synthesis with anti-aging benefits
👉 Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate: oil-soluble derivative of vitamin C that penetrates skin deeply to fight free radicals and helps fade hyperpigmentation

💫More details

  1. Packaging & Formula
It is packed in an opaque, recycled glass bottle and dropping pipette applicator – can be used directly to the face or using hand, both ways are good and recommend to use 1~2 drops. It has a subtle fragrance which is herbal scent however very weak so wouldn’t be an issue.
  1. Texture: Watery serum with a bit of viscosity and fast-absorbing formula. Contains oil-soluble vitamin C capsules (orange capsules) in a serum
  1. Results
Have been using for 2 weeks now 2 times a day. Hydration/oil content for my skin has increased instantly and overall skin tone has improved slightly and my age spots look reduced, still monitoring.

👉Innisfree test result shown that improved 48% of pigmentation/melanin (epidermis), 101% skin tone and 112% transparency in 4 weeks

🧦Pair with

  1. For ultimate hydration: Innisfree Green Tea Seed Hyaluronic Serum
Enriched with Green Tea extract and nano-capsule Hyaluronic Acid to deeply hydrate and moisturize skin. This product has been upgraded, delivering actives faster and deeper into the skin and maintain long-lasting hydration effect compared to previous version and fragrance free formula

  1. For smoothing wrinkles and fine lines: Innisfree Retinol CICA Repair Ampoule
A high-functional serum that softens dead skin cells, soothes skin irritation and helps improve skin tone & post acne scars. The package has been renewed and great for those who use retinol for the first time.

This Vitamin C serum contains not high-potency vitamin c which is good for sensitive skin yet loaded with effective vitamin c derivatives and other whitening ingredients to deliver skin brightening effects & antioxidant protection, and its non-sticky, fast-absorbing formula works well with makeup application in the morning. It increased my hydration level instantly almost similar to Innisfree Hyaluronic Acid serum and what I most like about this serum is, it gives a natural glow as if coated with thin transparent film, making my skin look youthful, plumped. It also brightens up the overall complexion and doesn’t feel dry even without moisturizer – thinly layered 2~3 times at night and slept (result may defer depending on skin type and weather though).

My tip is applying only a small amount each application, can be layered multiple times and do not over apply, the amount increases it delays absorption time and may leave a sticky feeling. If you use a Hyaluronic Acid, use vitamin C serum first, and use this serum with retinol together, then apply a retinol at night and this vitamin C serum in the morning, following with a spf.

Thanks for reading!

    1. Hi, thanks for contacting. The Innisfree VitaC Serum contains not a high percentage vitamin C but stable Vt.C derivatives so no need to store in the fridge – place in the room (cool) temperature is okay. Regards, Ji
