SKIN1004 Boosting Shot Ampoule(s) Review

As the ‘Spicule Serum or Shot Serum’ (which is called liquid microneedling in skincare) is still showing positive ticks, I was interested in trying this new collection of Korean skincare brand SKIN1004Lab In Nature‘ series.

The collection curated a trio of Boosting Shot Ampoules, including Niacinamide 10%, Matrixyl 10%, and Retinol 0.2%. Each ampoule targets a different skin concern such as lack of radiance, hydration, or firmness.

👉Reminder

*Benefit(s) of Spicules
Spicules can create micro-channels in the skin (epidermis), allowing for better penetration of active compounds and absorption of other skincare ingredients. Some studies also show that spicules can reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture, potentially by stimulating collagen production.

*Consideration
Spicules, when used correctly, are generally considered safe in skincare, but they can cause irritation, particularly in those with sensitive skin or a compromised skin barrier.
Using spicule products too frequently or aggressively can lead to over-exfoliation and damage the skin – leading to dryness, redness, or inflammation.

🌿Conclusion

Each of the products contain micro-spicules and I feel a slightly tingling sensation but compared to VT spicules, these serums have less and a smoother application.

Have been using these serums less than a week so I cannot tell how visibly improved my skin tone (pigmentation) and fine lines are, however I can feel my skin texture is smoother and a bit plumped.
Also, my skin’s protective barrier hasn’t damaged much even though I have been applying multiple times and mixed with all these 3 kinds of high spicules (300~500 shots) , especially 1~2 days for testing, yet in 2 days dry patches appeared only around the nose area.

👉All of serums do not cause any irritation (redness or inflammation) but only dry patches so I recommend moisturizing after using spicules to support barrier recovery.

🌿My Tips!

  1. Follow with solid moisturizing skincare regimen and seeking out spicule skin-care products that also contain Niacinamide or Cica (anti-inflammatory properties), especially if you have sensitive skin.
  2. Use gentle moisturizers and sunscreen to protect the skin from the sun after using spicule-based products.
  3. Spicules in skincare are not designed to remain in the body 👇 and spicule products can be beneficial for many skin types so I don’t mind these ‘boosting ampoules” fit in my daily skin care regimen – my best pick? will be retinol 😋(alternately or 2~3 times a week at night)

👇Plant-based spicules tend to dissolve within hours of application, compare to marine-derived spicules – will stick around a little longer yet they will naturally break down or shed over several days so not too much worry & I assume SKIN1004 boosting ampoules are all plant-based spicules (micro-sized centella spicule).
