2020 Beauty Keyword (M.A.S.K)

Due to COVID-19, lots of changes in the beauty industry and beauty trends have emerged, especially to self-care, minimal skincare and mask makeup, which reduced in color makeup and also meaning of smudge-free makeup.
The restriction of going to spas and salons increased online shopping for cosmetics & exercising equipment, and significantly increased purchasing of soothing, calming and brightening skincare products, with big impacts, and wearing face masks a priority & top trend in 2020 – this has lead to create a new word ‘Maskne’ (acne mechanica) which meant an increase in irritations from wearing a mask .

I’d like to share some information & product recommendations regarding this new trend: The Beauty Trend of Consumers Seek (M.A.S.K) in Korea during this Covid-19 with 4 series (cleansing, trouble care, soothing skincare & probably makeup too). Hope enjoy all 😄

✿Definition of M.A.S.K?

It has mentioned & named by Korean Beauty App ‘HwaHae’ for the first time and is abbreviation of:
M (Mild Cleansing)
A (Anti-trouble)
S (Skip-care)
K (Keep Cooling)

which Hwahae Beauty App users have been searching for and made huge purchases of those categories in early 2020 (data collected from 2020.01~06)

✿Increase in Skin Sensitivity

Wearing masks for long periods of time contributes to dermatological conditions such as acne, rosacea and dermatitis. Moist air from your own breath while wearing a mask – high humidity, sweating and block pores, and the mask itself: chemical molecules from dyes, glues and material heightened skin sensitivity, causing pimples and acne.

✿Mild Cleansing

Keeping skin in a good condition is a key to having healthy skin and preventing acne or maskne, and using a gentle cleanser is the first, simple step of skincare routine you can deal with everyday in this pandemic period.
Free of harmful ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, or SLS and protect the skin’s natural oils & moisture barrier etc,. there are some options and recommendations for this gentle, mild cleansers so have summarized the articles from Director Pi’s post – 2020 Cleanser Top of Top.
(I may point out that in Korean skincare products, mild or gentle formula is almost equality treated as a low pH product – slightly acidic to restore and maintain your skin’s natural balance – pH level between 4.5 – 6 on the pH scale)
